The Beigua Park is a protected natural area of ​​Liguria in a territory that extends between the metropolitan city of Genoa and the province of Savona and includes Mount Beigua (1287 m). The park, together with the Park of “Capanne di Marcarolo” is for the Genoese area the correspondent of the “La Mandria” natural park for the Turin area, and agricultural park “Sud Milano” for the Milan one, in other words all metropolitan natural “belt” reserves.

The territory of the park, located in the Western Ligurian Apennines, is between the Giovo Ligure (516 m s.l.m.) and the Turchino pass (588 m s.l.m.). The Apennine watershed, in correspondence of the section included in the Mount Beigua Group, is a narrow plateau of about 28 km, 18 of which at altitudes above 1000 m.

The Beigua Park is part of the group of Geoparks, a special category of territories that choose to follow careful policies of protection and enhancement of the geodiversity and geological heritage present in their territory.

The Geoparks are an invitation to the discovery of the European and worldwide geological heritage, of the formidable wealth in which are recorded the signs and the testimonies of the past, of the fantastic archive of the Earth and of the life that developed on it. They represent a great exhibitor, a privileged showcase in which to observe and understand the often complex mechanisms that have regulated and regulate the evolution of our planet.
